"It is a truism to say that the dog is largely what his master makes of him: he can be savage and dangerous, untrustworthy, cringing and fearful; or he can be faithful and loyal, courageous and the best of companions and allies." - Sir Ranulph Fiennes

--------

"The dogs in our lives, the dogs we come to love and who (we fervently believe) love us in return, offer more than fidelity, consolation, and companionship. They offer comedy, irony, wit, and a wealth of anecdotes, the "shaggy dog stories" and "stupid pet tricks" that are commonplace pleasures of life. They offer, if we are wise enough or simple enough to take it, a model for what it means to give your heart with little thought of return.

Both powerfully imaginary and comfortingly real, dogs act as mirrors for our own beliefs about what would constitute a truly humane society. Perhaps it is not too late for them to teach us some new tricks." - Marjorie Garber

--------

"Remember if there is no life in the dog's eyes, there is no life in the human beside him." - Mike McConnery

--------

"In dog training jerk is a noun, not a verb." - Dr. Dennis Fetko

Canine Cognition & Training

Sharing life with a dog can be one of life's richer experiences. To keep the human-canine relationship of love and companionship a happy one, dogs must learn to live in our human world. For this to be successful, they must be good canine citizens. At For Pits' Sake™, we specialize in the relationship between people and their dogs as well as responsible dog ownership. We believe that dog owners should bear responsibility for the actions and behavior of their dogs.

Responsible ownership involves ALL facets of your dog's life: providing for emotional and physical well-being and health; providing necessary sustenance and medical attention and prevention; providing socialization and training to allow him to be comfortable in public situations. This is a responsibility that needs to be taken seriously... because every irresponsible owner's actions (or, more likely, INactions) effects how ALL of our dogs are viewed by society.

At For Pits' Sake™, our primary objective and basic training philosophy is to help dogs and their owners maintain a balanced relationship. We do this by providing a way for open communication based on a sound working understanding between you and your dog. For Pits' Sake? training methods are highly motivational. We don't just teach you what to do, we also teach you why you do it. It is our belief that the dog should perform for his Master out of love and respect, not fear. Training should be a fun and enjoyable experience for both the dog and the owner.

We offer group, private and in-kennel classes and all training has the goal of first command response. Training is taught using a combination of obedience training and behavior modification techniques. The relationship between each dog and it's handler is unique, therefore, our methods are tailored to each individual dog. For Pits' Sake™ offers the following group and individual classes: Puppy, Basic and Advanced Obedience, AKC Obedience, Tracking, Field and Hunting Dog, Assistance Dog, Animal-Assisted-Therapy, Schutzhund, Ring, Police Dog, and Search and Rescue. In addition, we specialize in behavior modification and aggression.

As the famous quote says, "He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

We at For Pits' Sake™ are committed to making a difference in the human-canine relationship and will help you create a bond that will last a lifetime. For more information or if you have questions, Click HERE to contact us.
